MIKAIL BAKUNIN (1814-1876)

His Person: A revolutionist and "apostle of universal destruction," he demanded the complete annihilation of the prevailing social and political order. Celebrated the biblical Satan as the 1st revolutionary. Was condemned to life imprisonment in Germany, extradited to Austria, and later given over to the Russian Czar, who imprisoned him for many years. Following his release, he faced exile to Siberia and promptly escaped to London. Wrote: God and the State.

His Belief: "Even if God existed it would be necessary to abolish him."
