--Has been called "the founder of both science and philosophy in Europe." Traveled extensively in quest of truth, knowledge, and the meaning of life. Was a celebrated mathematician who taught the theories of geometry. Founded the 1st antiflesh society in Western civilization.

--Abstained from eating any meat, beans, or eggs. Forbade the killing of animals and even of some plant life. Ate a modest diet of bread and honey with vegetables for dessert. Was repelled by butchers and their meat shops. Did drink some wine, but preferred water.
