Biography of Potential Saint Marie of the Incarnation

About the potential saint Marie of the Incarnation, biography and history, causes and current status.

Cause. Soon after her husband's death, she began receiving revelations concerning the Incarnation, the Sacred Heart, and the Trinity. Leaving her 12-year-old son in the care of her sister, she entered a monastery.

While there, she wrote Relation of 1633, which, with Relation of 1654 (written in Canada), provides a history of her mystical life. Later, in 1639, she set sail for Canada, becoming the 1st woman missionary to the New World.

Devil's Advocate. Though she may have been a woman of sanctity, God obviously has not chosen to work miracles through her.

Nomination. Her cause was introduced in 1893.

Present Stage. She was declared "Venerable" by Pope Pius X on July 19, 1911.
