--The short-term economic outlook for the world is bleak. Depletion of fossil fuel reserves will cause great calamities especially in the poorer nations, where economic growth proceeds at a snail's peace--or not at all. The U.S., however, will not experience radical changes, although inflation will continue to worsen. An overhauling of the tax structure will be called for, in which the rich and the middle class are expected to assume a larger share of the tax burden than they do now.

For 2120--Within 150 years from now, mankind will have devised solutions to the problems that threaten to overwhelm the world. Productivity will be increased, shortages will be eliminated, and wealth will be distributed fairly. Moreover, the fuel shortage will have been solved.
