RICHARD LAURENCE MARQUETTE. Crime: His hatchet murder of a young Oregon woman terrorized West Coast citizens when portions of her body were found in his refrigerator and on the lawns of Portland homes. Conclusion: Public anxiety over the "butcher slaying" prompted the FBI to expand its list for the 1st time to more than 10 fugitives to include Marquette. Captured and brought to trial, he was found guilty of 1st-degree murder, and sentenced to a life term.

HUGH BION MORSE. Crime: Intent to murder his estranged wife. Conclusion: Friday, October 13, proved to be unlucky for Morse. On that day, a neighbor of his from St. Paul recognized Morse's picture at FBI headquarters in Washington. He was arrested minutes later and his subsequent admission to several unsolved murders led to his imprisonment for life.
