Predictor: IRENE HUGHES
She probably inherited her psychic ability from her mother, a Cherokee woman, who read the future in coffee grounds. Her spirit guide, a Japanese, 1st contacted her in 1961. Since then, many of her predictions have come through him. Formerly a secretary and reporter, Irene Hughes gives private consultations, lectures, makes predictions in a weekly newspaper column, and writes an astrology column. The Psychical Research Foundation in Durham, N.C., has tested her for psychic abilities.
Past Predictions: Wrong--In April, 1968, she predicted that the Vietnam War would come to an end in the spring of 1969. Hughes was wrong.
--At the same time, she predicted that a major war involving the Middle East would break out late in 1969. There was no such war. Hughes was wrong.
--She also predicted a war in the U.S. in 1969. A token attack would emanate from Mexico, hit Florida and Texas, and wind up in Washington, D.C. The war would also affect the Middle East, Australia, Alaska, and Greenland. Of all the nations taking part, China would seem to be the winner, though the victory would not be clear-cut. Hughes was wrong.
--In late October, 1968, she predicted that the Pope would allow Catholics to take the birth-control pill and would also allow priests to marry and remain priests. Though some priests have been allowed to marry and act as lay priests, her prediction has not come true. Hughes was wrong.
Right--In her diary, she wrote that President Kennedy would be assassinated and that more than one rifle would be involved. Hughes was right. (She also wrote that the assassination would involve a conspiracy to be revealed 25 years later.)
--She "saw" 3 men dying in a space ship. On January 27, 1967, 3 men died in a fire in an Apollo capsule. Hughes was right.
--Six weeks before it happened, she predicted the death of Robert Kennedy by a bullet in the head. Hughes was right.
--On June 9, 1969, she broadcast a prediction about Ted Kennedy over a Canadian radio station: "He will be involved in an auto accident on or near the water. His companion will be fatally injured, but he may not be injured." On July 18, Ted Kennedy drove his car off a bridge into a tidal pool on Chappaquiddick Island. Mary Jo Kopechne, who was with him, did not survive. Hughes was right.
--On April 8, 1970, she dreamed that the astronauts aboard Apollo 13 would become ill, that there would be a short in an electrical wire, and that there would be an oil leak. She also dreamed that Apollo 13 would reach the moon, be unable to land, and return to earth. On April 11, Apollo 13 was launched. An oxygen tank exploded, and the astronauts were forced to return to earth without landing on the moon. Except for a few technical details, Hughes was right.
Future Predictions: For 1975-1980
--Throughout the late 1970s and on into the 1980s, cures will be discovered for older diseases like arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and epilepsy. However, new diseases will crop up.
For 1981-1990--By 1982, the U.S. will have a new monetary system. Eventually, nations will reach an agreement leading to a world monetary system in which a kind of credit card will be used instead of money all over the world.
--A neo-Nazi group with some Hitlerian ideas will take over Germany, both East and West. This group will fight a war which will extend from Europe to the U.S.
For 1991-2000--In February of 1993, an all out nuclear war will begin. However, the war will not completely destroy the world.
--By 2026, the U.S. Constitution will no longer exist. The U.S. will be under a new kind of governmental rule. People will be very happy, freer than today, and full of good will toward their fellow humans.
