--1694. Gabriel Daniel of France issued A Voyage to the World of Cartesius, a voyage which did not stop at the moon, but continued onward to "the Indefinate Spaces," "the Space beyond the Universe." This may have been the 1st use of "space" in the modern sense of "outer space."
