Science Fiction History: 1959 Kurt Vonnegut The Sirens of Titan

About the 1959 sci-fi novel The Sirens of Titan by Kurt Vonnegut.

--1959. The Sirens of Titan is the skeleton in Kurt Vonnegut's closet. His massive struggles to disassociate himself from science fiction seem vain in view of this very good book which was about, among other things, Titan (one of the moons of Saturn), Saturn itself, Mars, Mercury, and "an opportunity to see a new and interesting planet and . . . think about your native planet from a fresh and interesting point of view." If such a book is not science fiction, then neither is anything else, and the term has no meaning.
