Country of the World Antigua
About the country Antigua, its location, size, population, leaders and rulers.
NATIONS AND THEIR RULER
Size: 108 sq. mi. (280 sq. km.).
Antigua is a small, hilly island in the eastern Caribbean, with rocky coasts, few springs, and a tendency to droughts. Its native forests have been replaced with fields of sugarcane and cotton. As a British associated state, Antigua is still heavily dependent on British aid, trade, and goodwill. Various attempts at federation among the West Indian islands have failed because the bigger islands like Jamaica don't want the burden of their smaller, poorer neighbors. But the small islands, with their problems of severe soil erosion, fragile economies, and lack of natural resources, will need to cooperate to survive.
