WHERE THERE'S A WILL
HOWARD ROBARD HUGHES, SR., U.S. businessman, died 1924
Last Will: "Big Howard," father of the reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes, Jr., whose own will or proof of existence thereof promises court battles for years to come, left an estate of $660,000. One-quarter interest in the Hughes Tool Company was deeded to his son, who at age 19, also assumed control of his deceased mother's half-interest. He soon bought out the other family partners and became sole owner. This legacy was parlayed by the junior Hughes into an immense fortune. Obsessed by a desire for privacy, he used his money to ensure that he was left alone.
