Environmental Action, Inc. 1346 Connecticut Avenue, Washington, D.C. 20036. Founded in 1970. Advocates "political and educational activism to preserve and protect the environment-primarily lobbying in Congress, publishing educational information, and assisting local environmentalists on national issues." Major project each year is making up the "Dirty Dozen" list-the 12 congressmen whose ecological voting records are bad enough to warrant their defeat at the polls. After three campaigns (1970, 1972, 1974), 77% of those named to the list are no longer in Congress; of the 31 incumbents, 2 retired, 6 were defeated in primaries, and 16 were defeated in general elections. Esperanto League for North America, P.O. Box 508, Burlingame, Calif. 940010. Founded in 1952 and "dedicated to spreading the use of Esperanto, the international language, and thereby advancing friendly relations among all the peoples of the world." New members will receive the bimonthly newsletter, a directory of members, and a catalog of materials available from the league's book service. Adult memberships are $15 per year; youth, student, and senior citizen memberships are $7.50. 700 members.
