Puff iron sets and pants toppers are among the facilities available to students at this school. Classes run for three months (360 hours) for each of the three courses--the plant owner/operator course ($600), the silk-finishing course ($375), and the wool-pressing course ($375). For the latter two, dexterity is the only requirement, whereas at least a 10th grade education is required for the plant owner/operator course.

The School is geared to deal with students having "study or language" problems. It "emphasizes the essentials for those workers who need to become skilled and employable in the shortest time."

Consider the curriculum for an aspiring wool presser: Natural and Manmade Fibers, Textile-Burning Tests, Sample Fabrics and Identification, Mechanics and Functions of Presses, Different Types of Presses and Their Functions, Definition of Terms, Trousers Finishing, Coat Finishing, Shirt Finishing, Other Garments.

Both day and evening classes are held for the convenience of Gerber's students.
