Reverend Religious Relics Foot of St. Theresa of Avila

About the foot of St. Theresa of Avila a sacred and reverend religious relic in Church history.

Inside a locked chapel in Rome's Church of Santa Maria della Scala is a glass case containing the foot of the great mystic St. Theresa of Avila. Blackened by time, the jewel-bedecked foot was stolen from its reliquary in 1969. Several days later, an anonymous caller directed churchmen to look beneath a pew at Santa Maria della Scala. There they found (wrapped in a newspaper bearing a report of the crime) St. Theresa's foot; all the jewels were still in place, but a few of the bones were missing.
