The monk's legendary 40-year voyage may have taken him as far as the Americas and back. Recently, controversial evidence of a possible early Chinese visitation came to light when two doughnut-shaped, 80-lb. stone anchors, seemingly of Chinese origin, were discovered off the California coast, one in 1972 and the other in 1975.
