1. FOR BALD-EAGLE KILLERS
The Illinois Wildlife Federation offers a standing reward of $500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who has killed a bald eagle in that state. 2. FOR THE REMAINS OF BIGFOOT
Project Bigfoot in Seattle, Wash., has posted an offer of $1,000 for any verifiable remains, such as the skull, hair, teeth, or bones, of a Bigfoot. The creature, also known as Sasquatch, is described as a 7-ft., 400-lb. giant who inhabits the Pacific Northwest. Local residents have reported sightings of it over the past 160 years. 3. FOR DELIVERY OF ENEMY WEAPONRY
The People's Republic of China will give as much as $4 million in gold for Taiwanese military craft and weapons. At last report, a person showing up on the mainland with a destroyer in tow will be paid a full $4 million. Other rewards include $2 million for a submarine, $1.4 million for an F-5E jet, and a mere $14,000 for a C-47. Taiwan offers similar rewards. In 1977 a pilot who defected from China received $800,000 in gold for his MIG-19 and military information. 4. FOR INFORMATION LEADING TO THE INDICTMENT OF BANK ROBBERS
Under its "rat on a rat" program, the Washington State Bankers Association pays $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of a bank robber. 5. FOR THE CAPTURE OF A UFO
Cutty Sark, the whiskey manufacturer, has offered $1 million to anyone who captures a spaceship or other vehicle that the Science Museum of London can verify as having come from outer space. "We're very serious about this," says the director of the firm, which has taken out several thousand pounds' worth of insurance with Lloyd's of London against paying the reward. 6. FOR A WORLD CHESS CHAMPION COMPUTER
The Fredkin Charitable Foundation of Boston, Mass., has established a $100,000 reward for the first computer program to defeat the world chess champion. An eminent professor in the computer science field admits that not until 1990 is there even a "50-50 chance" that a computer could become the chess champion of the world.
