THE 8 COUNTRIES WITH THE GREATEST NUMBER OF CONTIGUOUS NEIGHBORS

Except for island-nations, every country in the world abuts at least one neighbor; most touch three or four. Five countries--Austria, Mali, Niger, Yugoslavia, and Zambia--share borders with seven neighbors. The eight countries listed below are the only modern nations with eight or more contiguous neighbors. Their neighbors are listed in clockwise rotation.
